Let's assume somebody is willing to write a clone command line tool to be included in next RaspbianOS.
Is there any way this tool will be accepted by dev and included in next release?
One version of such code has been written and made available via GitHub. At least 4 years ago.
There have been at least two major releases of RasPiOS since then.
So on the basis of available evidence I'd say the chances of that happening are slim.
Once again, flagging this for RP comment in preference to conjecture.
