Some discussion from here seems to indicate that uBlock's youtube adblocking has broken recently, but only when signed in to youtube.
It's possible that I simply was lucky to not encounter any ads on v124 (signed in), then encountered ads on v125 (signed in) as a result of restarting the browser, then returning to v124 would have shown ads except for the fact that I was now signed out as a side effect of downgrading.
TL;DR It's possible that browser version has nothing to do with this. Comments welcome.
