Troubleshooting • Re: Offline repo for RPi OS doesnt work

guy. I suspect that my RPi runs a 64 bit kernel, though I thought I installed a pure 32 bit. I'll do some more checking on this. If this turns out to be so, I better understand your responses. And yes, 32 bit OS only supports 32 bit apps. And 64 bit OS might support 32 bit apps as well (under Windows it's for sure and under Debian it seems confirmed by @rpdom).

In case you wonder why I clamped on to 32 bit OS and not go for 64 bit right away: I thought that 32 bit OS + software would be more efficient in terms of RAM usage and since most of my 64 bit RPis have 4 GB or less of RAM ... But maybe I will consider 64 bit after all because it probably exploits more 64 bit features reducing the number of instructions (or the execution time) needed to accomplish a task.

But just to make sure: on "https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/operating-systems" I see both 32 bit and 64 bit downloads. Should the latest (Bookworm) 32 bit downloads still support RPi 1B's and early 2B's? Or do I really need an old 'Raspbian' download for that?
