Obviously missing something here. If you want to duplicate an existing uSD, just "copy" it to the new uSD. Lots of options at the command line, SD Card Copier, Ron's utilities, etc.
Why go through the hassle of "recreating" it from scratch? I tend to stay away from dd since it makes a bit copy of the entire source and gets very unhappy if the target is not the same size or larger. It also copies all the empty/blank bits.
