Compute Module • Re: CM5 in CM4 boards - USB 3.0 from CAM0/DISP0?

Can you provide a link to this discussion?

I have built a NAS using the CM4 with the I/O board.(https://www.hackster.io/cyberleader3000 ... are-38a258) I am happy with the performance and did not think the CM5 would make a difference, but then I saw the USB3 port. USB3 would significantly increase the backup speed when I connect an external hard drive.

I created an adpter board that uses the power from the USB2 connector and the interface lines from the DISP0 connector. I can get it to work in USB2 mode but not USB3. Is there some limiation or feature that needs to be enabled?

My current setup is a flex cable from the DISP0 to .1" headers, a USB3 front panel connector with an adapter to .1" headers and then jumper wires connecting the two together. I know it is not idea but all of the signals are the same length. I would expect it to at least see the device as a USB3 device, but using "lsusb -vt" it always shows as USB2 480.

I am using a USB3 memory stick for testing. When I put it in a regular Pi5 I can see USB2 on the USB2 ports and USB3 on the USB3 port. On the Pi 5 then memory stick is around 10x on the USB3.
impedance control of a DSI lane is different compared to USB3.0 -> and who knows what your board uses ..
