EU directive might not be a concern any more but producing the same product with two different versions adds a lot of cost to the company. it makes sense to simply do usb-c. for old users it's just a matter of safely adding an adapter for a few dollars I think? the power usage of Pi Zero 2 is quite low.EU directives are no longer our concern in the UK, unless selling into the EU, so they can still be made & sold to other countries, USA for instance, which is a big market; however, with Trumps intended import taxes, I doubt that the price will remain competitive...![]()
It would be nice for consumers if everything was compatible, but manufacturers like to be different to give them an edge in a market; Apple used to be regarded as the ultimate in Graphics, for instance, & used a different processor than the 'mass market' was using, but eventually they had to change owing to market pressures...![]()
If RPi do change to USB C, I expect a lot of people that have a lot of Zero units in use will not be best pleased...
