Good to know cheap ones work too. also My local gaming retailer often has used controllers at their stores for $30 so that could be a good option if I don't rush.(as far as recommendations for controllers). I find a corded usb controller works very well, and are cheap...
I like getting one that has two analogy thumb sticks, a d-pad, start, select, 4 buttons for a,b,x,y, and 4 triggers... (basically your standard modern controller)...
I find a corded el-cheapo switch controller from walmart get's the job done nicely, (the third party knockoff brands)...
