Okay thanks, I added it to my code. I will test it later when it is dark outside. Also, how do I disable the illuminators... I cant find any documentation for this and I am very new to using it

do you have any other suggestions if these things don't work? is my best option to just add more leds?
They unscrew from the side of the camera module.
The smaller round things next to the LEDs are LDRs (Light Dependent Resistors) that are sensing the light level for when to turn on the LEDs. Cover those and the LEDs will turn on even when it isn't dark.

Removing one LED may be sufficient. They're drawing power off the 3.3V rail that feeds the camera, but is also shared with a large amount of circuitry on the Pi. That rail isn't designed for large loads (some pages claim those LEDs are 3W, which would be almost 1A), so it can result in browning out the sensor or even the whole Pi.
